When the Trojan's were trying to decide whether or not to bring the Trojan horse into the city, the prophet Laocoon told them the city would be burned and razed to the ground if the horse was brought inside the gates, but because Poseidon was on the side of the Greeks, sea serpents rose up out of the sea and pulled him (and his two sons for good measure) into the depths of the sea.
